Intimate wedding in Winnipeg

Leah and I had the honour of documenting Deana & Keitrick wedding day on April the 13th of this year.

We absolutely LOVE them both.  Deana is such a kind and funny soul and it is very hard to find anything not to like about her.  We did not meet Keitrick until the wedding day, as he is from the States and only came up a week before the wedding.

It wasn't until the wedding day that we got to see the kind, gentleman that he is.  He loves Deana and it oozes from him. The way he talks to her, looks at her, holds her.  His giant smile when she walked into the ceremony, the passionate hug after their first kiss.  All beautiful!

Their wedding was very small and intimate as all of Keitrick's family lives in the States and sometimes it is tough to have all of those around you when you do a destination wedding.  I was shocked to hear that his father could not make the wedding due to some crazy immigration nonsense! I am honest when I say I do not love the fact that little books of colour determine so much of where one can go and when...

Words can't sum up the happiness, love, family and friends and crazy little things that happened on the wedding day.  Here are the photos.

A couple's session in Vancouver on film.

I was in Vancouver a couple of weeks back for a Photo Convention and was lucky enough to have a couple of hours to squeeze in a Connection session.  It was an extra special session as I was shooting it on film and had my good buddy Curtis Moore shooting as well.

I love the images I got back and look forward to seeing what Curtis got as well.  What I love about photography is that no two people are alike or see things the same.  This was the first time I did a shoot where both photographers were shooting for themselves.

Curtis and Chelsea, our couple, met up with us in Gas Town as we started our walk about.  We ended somewhere in China Town, in a beautiful little hidden garden.

A very special thank you to Berkley for arranging all of this.  You are awesome!

Vancouver film portrait photographer

I met Berkley at the Canada Photo Convention.  She is a fellow photographer out on the West Coast and I am sure we will remain friends. For only knowing her a couple of hours and squeezing in a couple's session and her portraits into an hour all on film, I think we did a very good job!  Thanks Berkley.

Remembering one of my first weddings in Winnipeg

Thinking back I love that I can remember elements of all the weddings I have ever shot.

Grant and Laurie had such an beautiful and relaxed wedding day and really enjoyed the celebration with their family and friends and the stunning Fort Gibraltar.

Pine Ridge Hollow Wedding

It is so easy to go through your wedding day and never actually talk to each other... Leah and I love that we focus on giving our couples some alone time to take it all in.  This photo from a wedding at Pine Ridge Hollow in BIrds Hill Park.

Winter wedding at the Qualico centre in Assiniboine Park

Our first wedding of 2013 was filled with everything one could hope for.

From an emotional first look in the snow, a stunning bride, a handsome groom, loving family and friends, and a romantic cathedral church to a first dance under twinkle lights outside in -30C.  It had it all and Leah and I am so grateful to have been witness to this special day.

A heartfelt congratulations to Ariana and Ryan!
