Alannah + Randy's intimate Connection Session in Birds Hill Park

Alannah and Randy sat quiet, almost not moving during the slideshow. Randy reached out to hold Alannah's hand mid way through. Two beautiful young people, on the brink of a great life's adventure!

Winnipeg Wedding at the Qualico Family Centre - Meghan + Oliver

This sums up who Meghan and Oliver are. Kind, generous and caring. I loved this reading from their wedding.  It's from the Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams

"What is REAL?" asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. “Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"

"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."

"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.

"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. “When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."

"Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?"

"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept.

Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

"I suppose you are real?" said the Rabbit. And then he wished he had not said it, for he thought the Skin Horse might be sensitive. But the Skin Horse only smiled.

"The Boy's Uncle made me Real," he said. "That was a great many years ago; but once you are Real you can't become unreal again. It lasts for always."

Janice + Kevin's Connection Session in Birds Hill Park

Janice & Kevin, another fantastic couple and perfect match for blfStudios!!

I had a great time walking around with them in Birds Hill Park - as you might guess by now, one of my favourite places.  It was perfect timing for some Fall color action as well.

As I have mentioned before - these Connection Session are  more so for me to get to know my couple and for them to gain confidence in me behind the camera. To see I am just a guy, passionate about what he does and not this control freak photographer shouting out old school silly poses. I usually say if we end up with just one great photo - we win.

I think we got a couple of good ones here and can't wait to see these hang on their walls!

Heather + Andrew's stunning wedding at Cielo's Garden, Manitoba

I met Heather and Andrew for the first time the morning of their wedding...

It was clear from the first few seconds that they were good people. Those people that care and give till they are empty, and then give some more.  It was a great pleasure to spend their wedding day with them, meeting their family and joking around with their friends.  A wedding should be mostly about that - spending time with family and having fun with friends. Not stressing about one strand of hair that's out of place, the bottom of your dress picking up some leaves or that the ceremony might be early or the food served a bit late.  Who cares??

Two families are becoming one, two lives joining. Their happiness and love is all that matters in the end.

This was one of those weddings. I loved every second of it and am happy to share a few of my favourite frames.

Just worth mentioning as well that it was my first time shooting at Cielo's Garden just South of Steinbach.  As you can see from the photos - an amazing place and I look forward to many many more weddings out there!!

PS> Also worth mentioning was that I had the most delicious roast I have ever had in my life - anywhere!! Smoked for what tasted like days...
